Painted on location beside the River Sligachan on the Isle of Skye, this oil painting looks towards the Cuillin beneath a soft, overcast sky. The muted light dissolved the distant mountains into cool blue-grey tones, while the still water reflected the quiet atmosphere of the evening. Working directly from observation, I sought to preserve that fleeting sense of calm.
